After planting the birch tree…

River Birch w/ Needles

So here’s the image I took this afternoon. We planted the river birch yesterday. I picked up some fallen twigs from the Norway Spruce in my front yard and placed them on top of the soil. As the needles break down, they will help up the acid in the soil – which, hopefully, helps with the iron deficiency.

I will continue to add twigs/small branches with needles in fall and spring to see if that helps my new birch out  🙂
